Vancouver church hits the market for $10 million

It's nearly 100 years old.

A nearly 100-year-old church is on the market in Vancouver.

The West Point Grey Presbyterian Church is currently up for sale with a listed price of $10 million. The congregation recently amalgamated with the Kerrisdale Presbyterian Church, and the group decided the church at 4397 W 12th Ave. would be sold.

Built in 1927, the stone church is a short walk from the West Point Grey commercial area on West 10th Avenue. It's a simple structure with a sanctuary area and other spaces that have been used by the local community (groups like a local Girl Guides troop used it).

While it is nearly a century old, it doesn't appear on the city's list of heritage buildings.

The real estate listing for the site notes that the property is a "large west side multiplex development" site.

"The property represents a rare opportunity to acquire a large multiplex development site located in the sought-after West Point Grey neighbourhood," states the listing.

Four options are given for the site: turning it into three single-family homes, up to 12 units in a multiplex development, use as is, or heritage restoration.
