Hood Warz #1 NORTH BURNABY IN THE HOUSE!
(sorry for the caps i got a little excited!)
hello people my name is Ryan Narita you may know me from uhh?? nothing. i’m just a regular dude.
but! my hood is dope and i’m here to prove it!!! north burnaby is just 15 to 20 minutes outside of vancouver. it’s like a hidden gem in plain view? my hoods got character out the ying yang i could talk about secret spots and crazy local stuff for hours but i’ll have to restrict myself to just one topic right now.
THE VIKING

the statue or giant head as it’s most commonly called. was created by the students and staff of burnaby north secondary in june 13 1994. there are many rumors surrounding the head like there is gold buried beneath it, or that under the hill is actually the rest of the body or my personal favorite that it’s actually a secret missile silo . which to me adds to the awesomeness.
i mean not many people can say they have a giant viking head at their high school. but i can.

no one quite knows why they did it, or what it’s for aside from throwing flour up it’s nose to make it look like it does blow. it’s also a constant target for pranks!( the janitor always has to take shopping carts off the horns) people say it’s a giant eye sore but i love that thing! wether people in my hood like it or not they can’t deny it’s an awesome land mark. all directions are made by proximity to the “giant head”

basically i don’t care if it’s a giant bulls eye for rival high schools. or that there is a weird growth in it’s hair! i don’t care about the haters! i have too many good memories surrounding that big guy. and there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the burnaby north viking. i hope someday my kids too will be able to enjoy it as much as i did. if you’re ever in the neighborhood make sure to drive down kensington to see my big buddy.
thanks again bob
