The great indoors…..

POSTED November 10, 2008 BY Jef Choy

A huge part of living in Vancouver and I guess this website, is showcasing how beautiful our city and surrounding area is.  The mountains…the water…the forest….  In the summer I almost get frantic, so many parks to skate, so many things to do.  Sure in the fall and winter you can still enjoy these things, but for me at least, I don’t have the same excitement (except when it snows, then I’m doing angel’s on my front lawn.) as I do when it’s sunny out.

When you first see that ugly side of fall, it can really bum you out.  ’Oh  my god…will this rain EVER stop….’  FFF…..maybe not dude…so you better get your shit together.

This photo is what I call ‘my winter program’.  It may not look like much, but after hours of sessions over the years, I’ve found that a parking garage, is as beautiful as the beach, as comforting as the forest, and as stoic as the mountains…to me at least.

This particular parking garage is the Chan Center, it’s my favourite.  The bust factor is reasonable, as long as there hasn’t been a rash of knuckleheads skating through….seriously..there’s a ‘skateboard party’ club at the university….It doesn’t have much in terms of obstacles but super smooth flat is enough and I tend to roll with my own obstacles these days….

It’s true Vancouver lacks a real good indoor, but until then, my weekly parking garage sessions will do just fine…..
