Another one of those “remember when”‘s…

I can barely remember it… but back in the day, Stanley Park had an outdoor zoo… They had Polar Bears, Wolves, Monkeys, a whole reptile building…
It was kind of weird…
Anyway… the zoo, structure wise, was awesome! A total 1950′s architectural playground looking like something out of the Jetsons…

also, just found this picture of the Polar Bear exhibit:

If you’re feeling like an explorer, you can still find some of the old habitats in Stanley Park… they’re crazy overgrown… but totally awesome!

man this is an awesome post. too many memories here! I think i went to the zoo like every week or something like that… i really felt bad for the animals though – their liing spaces looked like shit – specially for the polar bear. i usually had fun here though, except for this one time a crow knocked my hot dog out of my hand and ate it infront of me – fucker.

whoa! where in the stan is this?

-trivia note, polar bears can turn yellow from general uncleanliness or from the oil from the seals they eat! they can even turn green from algae do to their transparent fur

    ….poor guys
