After spending a couple weeks down in California, I forgot that there are not nuclear weapons every couple blocks in Vancouver. I’m sure there are a couple tucked away in Camp Pendleton in Oceanside.

Shu, Ju, Jiro, Kuni, Koda, Saho…..I’ve lost count of the Japanese skateboarders visiting Vancouver that I’ve met.  Every summer, you roll up to the plaza and there’s a whole new crew.  They’re always so full of stoke, and they have that crouching tiger stance right before they do a trick….I think it’s impossible not to become their friend.  These guys are here for a month and plan to go to Burnside.  They weren’t really posing for the photo…they’re like that all the time.

Last week… while it was kinda socked-in in the Vancouver area, the local mountains got sun. Lotsa sun, like 15 degrees C kind of sun.

I can’t ride this year, but it didn’t stop me from going up to the mountain, grabbing a coffee, and sitting with my face facing the sun.

I felt like a million bucks!

The Vancouver Flea Market is awesome. In this highly organized chaos you can find everything imaginable. You need a Samuri sword, a t-shirt with a wolf, a blender, some tools, old video games, books, records? Yup, the flea market has got you covered. Need a nail file, new jacket, some random electrical wires, a toothbrush, old photographs, candles, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure on VHS, a home-made picture frame? No problem, it can all be found here.

With a little digging and an hour or two on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, there is always a treasure or two to be found here.
