So let's just say, hypothetically, I was planning on riding a bike from my office to the Biltmore tonight to watch The Sadies and Julie Doiron play. And let's say that I wanted to calculate the route with the most vegetation, the route with the least amount of pollution and the route with the "least elevation gain" (less riding up hills), then figure out how many calories I'd burn on each of those routes, how much carbon I wouldn't be spewing into the air by riding instead of driving my car, then decide which of those routes I wanted to take based off of all of that information. I could spend a few days/months researching the routes or I could just go to the Cycling Vancouver web site, type in a few words and PRESTO! Thanks, UBC.
