What a difference a year makes!

March 25, 2009

About this time last year, me and Jeff Choy were watching the Canucks lose their way out of playoff contention. It was raining, people were glum, it was a disappointing feeling. Spring’s not quite the same if the ‘Nucks aren’t in the playoffs.

Fast forward one year, things are looking up! The sun’s out today, there’s daffodils growing down the street, and the Canucks are on a roll, seemingly steamrolling into the playoffs. Even Daniel Sedin lost a tooth, didn’t miss a shift, and then scored a goal on the powerplay…

The most positive thing about the Canucks right now is that not everyone is playing their best, but are still winning… If a couple to the top paid guys could wake up (13, 38), the Canucks will be a force this spring!

Do I hear a “HELL YEAH!” ?

PECHA KUCHA – LIMITED TICKETS LEFT!

March 25, 2009

There are only 55 tickets left out of about 500 or so… so unless you order them online you probably won’t get into the event tomorrow at the Park Theatre. I may have said this before, but I can’t stress enough that THIS IS THE BEST EVENT IN THE CITY!!! DON’T MISS IT!!!

EXPO 86 MYSTERY POSTERING

March 25, 2009

Have you seen those EXPO 86 posters around town lately? Wondered what the hell was going on? Me too. Turns out it’s not somebody trying to use the old branding as a part of some sort of viral ad campaign, it’s actually an art installation that’s going on monthly over the next year!

window washers

March 25, 2009

I’ve seen this a couple times when I’ve come into Vancouver. Does this happen in other cities? Climbing down the side of a building with very little holding you up seems pretty crazy. Guess you can’t be scared of heights.

Dogtown Vancouver: Cin Cin

March 25, 2009

It’s a new dog every day, click here to find out how to get your dog featured here if you haven’t sent in your photos yet!

Today’s dog featured in Dogtown Vancouver is Cin Cin, Terri K’s pup. Here’s what she had to say about her…

NAME: Cin Cin (a.k.a. Sausage).
BREED: Mastiff x Retriever.
HOOD: Richmond.
FAVORITE SNACK: Bread and Cheese.
OTHER INFO: Cin Cin was adopted 4 years ago from the SPCA and has been spoiled endlessly ever since. She weighs 150lbs, but despite her beastly facade, Cin Cin is a real Teddy bear and enjoys sun-bathing or napping with her purple toy hippo “Wilma.” Cin Cin is afraid of most things: small dogs, her own reflection, the dark, vegetables… but we love her anyway.

WEEKLY SLOP – DONA CATA

March 25, 2009

vancouverslopdonacata

Dona Cata
This is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Vancouver.  I used to visit it last year when it was this  tiny hole in the wall,  with very limited seating.  The space they now occupy is bigger and a lot nicer, however the tacos went from $1.50 to $2.00 each. …READ THE REST OF THIS ENTRY>>>
