VANCOUVER POLICE AUCTION

April 30, 2009

May 2nd and 3rd. Basically all of the information is in this video. Holy crap.

Also, here’s the link to the auction house site with all of the info. Again: holy crap. If you need a bike for a decent price, look no further.

Community Centers #9: Dunbar Community Center

April 30, 2009

On a sunny spring day, Vancouver is crazy beautiful. This week I went and checked out the Dunbar Community Center, and wow, what a beautiful setting this community center has.

they are just stairs

April 30, 2009

I have passed this set of  stairs on Great Northern Way on so many occasions and always wondered where the hell they go, what the hell they were built for and of course marveled at how deadly, i mean awesome, they are. To me they have always felt out of place and in my head I just assumed that anyone who ventured up would obviously be transported to another dimension upon arrival at the summit.  Well one morning last week I had some time on my hands on the way to work and caught myself gazing at the  behemoth in wonder once again while passing by. So I flipped a bitch to see, once and for all, what lay at the top.gnwstairs21

During my ascent I took in the sites of carved …READ THE REST OF THIS ENTRY>>>

PRETTY DRIFTED – PHOTOS BY SEAN ORR

April 29, 2009

seanorr

Sean Orr is an awesome photographer who covers Vancouver from a completely raw standpoint. Perhaps better known for his controversial/outspoken views expressed in his posts over at Beyond Robson, you simply cannot question his eye for a great photo of this great city that we live in.

Sean has put together a book called PRETTY DRIFTED which you can get a preview of right here and hopefully buy a copy of soon after. There’s a release at a new gallery called HOTEL next Friday, here are all of the details/official release info:

The semiotics of the city of Vancouver; its materials and …READ THE REST OF THIS ENTRY>>>

PopVox Awards: the final countdown

April 29, 2009

popvox_09

Who works in Gastown, besides a cadre of fashionistas, furniture snobs, and maple syrup merchants? Techies!

Each year, our friends at New Media BC bring us the PopVox Awards (from vox populi, Latin for “voice of the people”). These are people’s choice awards intended to celebrate this province’s (read: this city’s) friendly and burgeoning digital media industry.

Voting closes tomorrow, so if you want to support your lovable local nerd army, now’s the time. (My favourite candidates include HootSuite and memelabs.) Winners will be announced at the PopVox Awards Gala on May 13th, 2009. Vote, vote, vote!

Dont Sleep’s 72 Hour Festival Submission “Hairy Houdini’s Hairy Tale”

April 29, 2009

Last weekend we took a posse up to beautiful Squamish BC to shoot a short film for the Telus 72 Hour Film Festival.  ”Hairy Houdini’s Hairy Tale” is a day in the life story of a young magician trying to find love in between bewildering the village folk with his illusions and slight of hand. Enjoy!

It was pretty ridiculous trying to work with animatronic monkeys.  As you can see from the outtake after the credits it was a weekend full of laughs and frustration

April 29, 2009

download-9download-8

Went to Rodney’s Oyster bar (405-1228 Hamilton Street)

with friends a couple weeks ago.

The ceasar’s we all agreed hands down was one of the finest

we have ever had. Spicy+grinded horsh radish + crushed

ice + garnished off with a prawn= amazing but with a hefty

price of $12. Trust me it’s worth it!
