SURFACE COLLECTIVE

April 27, 2009

I got an e-mail from a local company called Surface Collective this morning and wanted to share a couple images from their range of kids “wall tattoos”. They make ones for grownups too but I have a penchant for cute, so…

Giants vs. Kelowna….oh…oh….

April 25, 2009

Remember my best day ever post?  Well today should have been that day, but instead I did the polar opposite, I pretty much didn’t leave my block.  As you can see by my posts, I went to a little league game, the horse races, and a Giants game.  Blowing it never felt better….

The Giants looked tentative tonight, it took them a couple periods to get going and ultimately it just wasn’t enough.  The Rockets annoy me, I’ve come to accept the non-existent connection between a lumberjack and an orca whale for our beloved Canucks, but connecting the dots between a rocket and Ogopogo just isn’t going to fly with me.  They also have a 6’8 defenceman (my favourite cat call of the night ‘FREAK!’) And well they shut us out two games in a row….I think that’s what’s really getting to me….

Beef on a Bun!

April 25, 2009

I spend a fair amount of time at Hastings Race Course, for $20 you can bet on a few horses, take in the beautiful scenery (it’s one of my favourite views in the city), and eat some stuff that is pretty bad for you….oh..and you get to see horses run real fast.

All these perks add up to a great experience and so losing doesn’t even feel that bad, and winning….I never get sick of winning….it always feels like the first time you’ve ever won anything….

Oh…back to the beef on a bun…yes.  Roast beef is like the turkey of red meat, it’s not day to day meat.  At a horse race you expect stuff like hot dogs, which is fine, but to have a fresh roast beef sandwich is a real treat.  I’m even going to take a step further and say that this sandwich is like a whole roast beef dinner but it’s in a bun so you can eat it with one hand!  It’s got horseradish (made from real horses!), dijon, gravy too, but instead of broccoli, it comes with a pickle, the way vegetables were meant to be eaten…..  The beef is freshly cut too not from a bag (I’m talking to YOU Mr. Sub!).

I’ve realized that putting meat, horse, and eat in the same paragraph is not very appetizing….

beefonabun2

note…bad angle dude…it looks like bun on a bun….trust me..it’s better than that….
