Mila Franovic is the girl behind the amazing fashion shoots at Color Magazine, where she holds the position as their Fashion Editor. This stylish lady is also the buyer at Underworld, a designer of fashion pieces, and a freelance fashion stylist. (See her “Vancouver Special” shoot with Jody Rogac in Selector Magazine, it’s beautiful).  Here is a glimpse into her day to day life.

The Proof

1. Late nights are spent watching funny videos with my boo, the internet occupies a lot of my time, in a good way.
2. Floating in palm springs, I was at Coachella.
3. Artifacts of photoshoots present and past. The dreamcatcher is from the shoot I did with Jody Rogac for the first Selector magazine, and the bra is from a recent shoot I did with model Anna Feller.
4. Mid shoot with Taylor James in my former Railway studio. I worked on these jeans for 4 days, bleaching, shredding, then bleaching again and then cutting again and patching again.
5. Location scouting is one of my fave things to do with the right music and a hot cappuccino.  After this moment the horse freaked and headbutted the other horse, at the same time a three six song came on my ipod. Whoaa
6.  Pieces I made for a Nixon art show, comprised of vintage denim pieces cut from actual jeans left at thrift stores all over the lower mainland, then stretched over hand made oak frames. They didn’t sell .
7. A fine fine fine cup of coffee keeps me cruising from sample to sample and email to email, spread sheet to spread sheet. About 4 a day. If I’m working at Underworld though its more like 6 since there is no natural sunlight.

What do you do and where?
I work as the fashion editor at COLOR magazine, I also work as a stylist and maker of fashion pieces, and I do buying at UNDERWORLD shop.

What neighborhood do you live in?
I float in-between Cambie and Downtown.

What are you working on?
Right now I’m working on the Color Magazine Fashion Issue! It’s the first one and the best one! I’m also sewing a lot and crafting for shoots coming up.
