I received this incredibly awesome letter and seeing Jef’s post today, I figured it was the perfect day to share it with everybody:

I was recently forced to leave Vancouver Island and move to Vancouver, the BIG city, the dangerous city, the city wrapped up in gang violence and fear. I say forced because I was in desperate need of a liver transplant and it was felt by my medical team back home that it was essential that I move to the city to be near the transplant team so that they could understand just how fast I was deteriorating. We did the move.

My loving wife came over for a day to find us a place to move into. She came over to view a couple of places that a friend had prescreened for us. I had told my wife and friend that if I was to die I wanted to go out living in a little class, if I lived I would figure out how I was going to pay for it. A beautiful place on Marinaside, right over the marina was selected, the cost per month unbelievable but somehow worth it. We have a shepherd and every day, several times a day she must be walked over to the dog park. It has amazed me since day one, but if I have looked into the faces of 1,000,000 people over the last two months while just out walking along the shore, I have seen 985,000 smiling faces. Everyone is friendly, everyone receptive to chatter, I have seen no fear in any face and I have to say that I can’t think of a better place on earth to recover from this transplant.
