It is my pleasure today to introduce you to our newest arts editor, Tina Ok! Tina will be coordinating stuff with Jennilee (who is still our arts editor, don’t worry! We’ve got two now!) while also featuring fine artsts and conceptual artists, artists who do cover art and poster art.
Welcome, Tina!
Over the past 11 years, Ross Macmillan took pieces of… well, old machinery and stuff… stuff that would end up as trash or sitting somewhere being unused collecting rust, and turned it into furniture, housewares and pieces of art. Amazingly thoughtful pieces that fill a shop in Gastown and many of his customers homes, the business is called Industrial Artifacts and you might think it’s bad news that it’s closing down at the end of this month, but I don’t. Ross is moving on to start a new business, he did something amazing over 11 years and is moving onto something else that will likely be just as amazing.
AND… he’s selling off everything he has, from completed pieces to raw artifacts!!! Here’s the message I got from him, get down there if you want to take advantage of this once in a lifetime sale:

Anthony Castro and Scott Walhovd, the boys/owners of (212), are throwing a little par-tay to celebrate the big 2nd birthday of their ladies and gents’ Gastown store.
Come on down between 6:30pm and 10:30pm for some music, shopping at a 25% discount, sips of Russell beer and glasses of Barefoot Wine.
Oh, and a little bird named Scott informed me the after party is across the street at Shine, which is doing an electro night called FML Thursdays.

The Vancouver Shiba Inu Group has a meet up this weekend! If you like this breed, go down to David Gray Park in Burnaby – McKay Avenue and Rumble Street this SUNDAY, June 28th from 12pm – 2pm. How can anyone not love the Shiba Inu web cam that was up this past fall.
