If you took a stroll from Kits Beach to the Maritime Museum, you’d stumble right into this fairly wide open dog beach. Mostly filled with big …READ THE REST OF THIS ENTRY>>>
Probably the first person I ever idolized was the Fonz, I have countless photos growing up giving the ole ‘AAAAYYY!!!!’. Back then my most prized possession was my Fonzie T-shirt, I loved this t-shirt so much that I have memories of myself sitting on my bedroom floor, shirtless with my arms crossed, pouting that my favourite t-shirt was in the wash. Boy I loved that shirt.
I’ve gone the rest of my life without owning a t-shirt that meant as much to me as that one, until now. I’ve noticed in the last few weeks that the Gilley brothers, who regularly post here, have rolled out a new set of shirts through their company Basement Clothing. It didn’t take long for me to notice the ‘Sleep Country’ T, and it excited me. Now there’s no way Reeves is the Fonz, he’s not all to blame but he’s part of the reason why we lost our franchise, but in hindsight he’s one of the most lovable athletes we’ve ever had in Vancouver. I mean look at the guy…..
I anxiously facebooked Spencer, “Hey man…why don’t I just come by your place and pick it up??’, these are pretty smart kids though, and so it was agreed the exchange would be made through Bob. What was followed by that was a bombardment of texts, voice mails, emails and telephone conversations with Bob…’Uh…so you hook up with those kids yet?’, “where r shirt?”, “Do you know where they live?”
Well today, Bob had some ‘important papers’ to sign…..I have no idea what any of them said (If I lose the house I’m SOOO dead)….I do know though…I have the shirt….

Got Craft? presents the western Canada premier of Handmade Nation, Thursday July 9th at The Rio Theater.
Coming off her NXNE gigs, local girl PIPER DAVIS can be seen in this Winnie Cooper TV clip doing that thing she does with that unique flow she’s got going. The Winnie Cooper crew will have Ms Davis at their NO MORE STRANGERS jamboree this coming SAT @ the ol FUNKY WINKER BEANS along with VIRGIN SPACE CADETS.
Gosh, with Love & Electrik and now coming across this girl, these 2 really got me excited about Vancouver music again. Thanks to my pal Christian at Winnie Cooper for the news.

Days like today in Vancouver can be a little tough to bear. Our glorious mountain views are obscured by a monochromatic haze and the steady rain is nearly inescapable. Even from within the comforts of home or the bustle of the workplace, it’s hard to walk by a window without feeling just a little down. People become more irritable and conversations easily degenerate into gripe sessions. The potential of suffering from SAD becomes very, very real.
The situation looks dire indeed.
But let’s put things into perspective. We make our home in one of the most beautiful, most liveable and most diverse cities in all the world - and a little rain doesn’t change that. We have so much to look forward to in the coming weeks and months: festivals, concerts, arts events, BBQs, markets, beach days and more natural beauty than you can shake a stick at. There are neighbourhoods to visit, foods to sample and cultures to explore. Days like these are important reminders for us to be thankful for what we’ve got, because we won’t have time to sit around and reflect when the weather improves and we’re out having fun. Besides, the rain helps keep our streets & sidewalks clean and our friends the plants & trees need love too.
So turn that frown upside down – even though summer has started off with a whimper, the most AWESOME of days are still to come…

Some more reminders after the break, if you need ‘em…
Not sure if you’re sick of all the coverage yet but more flicks from Judah Oakes on the EVENT PAGE.
We would like to thank Emerica, Antisocial, all the other skate shops that helped out, Mayor Gregor Robertson, Sara Blyth, Timebomb crew, Vancouver Is Awesome, Color, SBC, Concrete, all the media who supported, Nuba, anybody I forgot, the Vancouver Police Dept (yes, thx for the escort and not blocking anything) and the skateboarders of Vancouver for supporting!
Judah Oakes took some amazing PHOTOS at Leeside. I am very happy to announce that we raised $3,500 and Emerica is matching that to make the grand total $7,000 for Leeside and the Lee Matasi foundation. Thank you to all who bought Leeside tees (available still at Antisocial), Michelle at Antisocial, and for those that paid more than 50 cents for the hot dogs.
