Arc’teryx is a local clothing company that is world-renowned for consistently introducing some of the most important advancements in outdoor performance wear since 1991. The company recently launched a capsule line called Veilance, their first venture into the fashion world. Veilance designer, Conroy Nachtigall, holds an MA in Menswear from the prestigious Cental St. Martins, and describes the line as technically focused menswear, based on knowledge gained by constructing outdoor apparel. Performance menswear. Veilance interprets fashionable menswear classics combined with state of the art manufacturing techniques that Arc'teryx is known for.
Here is a glimpse into Conroy's day to day.
The Proof
1. Start of the day. The important thing here is that the red Gaggia light is on; coffee is imminent.
2. I go by the Vancouver Law Courts building every day and on a daily basis it never ceases to intrigue me. And although its such a great example of our (recently late) hometown architectural hero's hometown work, I still really like these kinds anonymous brutalistic structures.
3. I'm always trying to capture the amazing sunsets from the vantage of photo 1., but because of my questionable photog skills, the results are never as spectacular as I witness them in the moment. So I resort to these kinds of vantages and enjoy the empty spaces and shifting the horizons around to where they suit me. Oh, and I really, really enjoy these vantages in the moment as well. WA state ferry.
4. I've been very lucky to have had the oppurtunity to travel quite a bit in the last little while. People always ask me to bring back photos and I manage to disappoint because I come back with things like this. Coloured traffic cones in Tokyo and Osaka.
5. I'm addicted to magazines, mini windows into the world at large.
6. Another travel photo, wierd looking sci-fi apocalyptic sky shot from the London Millenium Bridge on the way back from seeing the Constructivist exhibit at the Tate.
7. More pseudo sci-fi, this is the temporary parasitic studio/office that Shiguru Ban set up on top of the Pompidou Centre.
8. De rigueur desk shot. I always put up stuff at the beginning of the season then forget about it. The screensaver on the laptop is a photo taken by a friend from Cypress mountain during the super foggy week last winter.
