You can finally see Martin Creed’s work here in Vancouver. I came across it walking down the street last week and was floored by how beautiful his work is in person!
Art collector and real estate marketing mogul Bob Rennie commissioned artist Martin Creed to install his artwork on the side of The Wing Sang Building in Chinatown (Chinatown’s oldest building), as part of it’s restoration project. “Everything is going to be alright” is Rennie’s philosophy for the 2010 Games and the Downtown Eastside.

You can see it from Pender or inside the Chinese Garden. It is hard to see the entire slogan. I tried taking a picture but from street level they don’t come out well.

I just saw the sign tonight. That’s the nicest thing I can say about it. What complete and utter patronizing pap. I hope he has permit for it.

Not trying to promote, but my latest blog entry is about a good place to take this picture for people without easy access. You will probably want a telephoto though.
The SW corner of the SYS garden is Carrall and Keefer. Keep heading SW and there is a pedestrian overpass over Carrall that gives you a straight sight line to the piece.
