CANOPY WALKWAY AT THE UBC BOTANICAL GARDEN

POSTED October 17, 2009 BY Bob Kronbauer

A little while back we gave away some free passes to the Canopy Walkway at the UBC Botanical Garden. Rachel Bee, the lucky winner, sent in a bunch of photos and a letter describing the experience…

ubcbotanical1

“Here are some pictures from the UBC botanical garden canopy walkway plus a few in the garden. I have to be honest and say I was unable to take that many photos, only because I was so scared. I thought it was going to be more ewok village and less Indian Jones style foot bridge. Don’t get me wrong it was fun in that exhilarating scary kind of way. Honestly the thing is tiny you have to hang on will both hands, walk single file as it sways while you cross, and it’s doesn’t help any fears that your super duper high in the sky. Everyone must try, it’s starts off low and short then once your in the middle it gets really high and the spans become longer and longer and you start to realize the only thing between you and the ground is a bunch of tiny wires held on by bolts and the see through metal walkways make it all the more terrifying. Seriously scary but fun.
Just wanted to say thanks for the passes and tell you how freaked out me and my friends were. Thanks again.

Rachel B”

Oh, and don’t forget about the APPLE FEST going down at the garden: http://vancouverisawesome.com/2009/10/16/apple-festival/

Today is a great day to come. The lines are small and there are lots of interesting varieties of apples to taste. Rubinette, Winter Banana, Topaz and SPA493 are my favourites so far.

The first part of my message somehow didn’t make it into my post, so here it is again:

We’re so glad that Rachel had such a great time on the Canopy Walkway. It’s a really fun adventure, and during Apple Fest today and tomorrow its a special rate of only $10 for adults and $5 for children.

The rain seems to be letting up a bit too.
