PIZZA PIZZA!

POSTED October 20, 2009 BY Jef Choy

I’ve lived here all my life so perhaps I appreciate this less than people who are originally from back east….hmm…then again…maybe I appreciate it more….

I’m not sure, but for those interested, there is a Pizza Pizza at the Coliseum at the PNE.

Ewww…I’ve lived in Ottawa and I can tell everyone right now….this is definitely NOT AWESOME. For UBC students and recent grads you may have had the misfortune of spending your hard borrowed money at this dump of a pizza joint, anyone who did learned very quickly to save it for beer I’m sure. Two words: STAY AWAY. Seriously, it seems only Vancouver is serious about grease pies…my time ‘out east’ was a pizza lover’s nightmare. And now, thanks to this post I’m getting violent flashbacks…

  • Kenny

There’s actually three Pizza Pizza locations in Metro Vancouver now, excluding the Coliseum “location”.

Funny I have a different experience with Pizza Pizza. I had a few times while visiting Toronto and I found it to be quite good compared to the overpriced (and overrated) Panago. Think of it as a mix of Pizza Hut and Panago.

NOOOO!!! Pizza Pizza is the WORST and i can’t understand how its managed to infect and multiply all over Ontario. There are SO many, you’d think Ontarians didnt know what good pizza tasted like

I knew feelings for pizza pizza would be strong….

Ha ha ha, I know some East Coasters that go crazy for this stuff. These people will bring multiple pizzas onto the plane back to Vancouver as their carry on luggage. Too bad the Canucks don’t play at the Coliseum any more, because I’m sure if the Toronto Maple Leafs ever played them there, they would sell out of Pizza Pizza. Come to think of it they could probably set up a Swiss Chalet kiosk and kill it on Maple Leaf night too.

  • Alysse

Yeah, there’s two on UBC campus, enjoy.

  • wendy

I’ve never eaten Pizza Pizza but I still remember their phone number from 1980 when I lived in Ont. 967-1111, is it the same here?

  • http://www.jolinras.com Ian

man pizza pizza is by far the best i have eaten.. gotta get the crazy toppings, not the norm.

    lol

    737-11-11 That was Ottawa.

Definitely not the best ghetto slice out there, East coast or West.

Top two take out pizza for me are Panago (only joint that offers veggie pepperoni) and Nat’s. In the grand scheme of things though, I buy pizza maybe twice a year. I make my own pizzas at home, dough and sauce from scratch. Thanks Martha Stewart!

  • Roge Allen

Pizza 222 was the worst. Pizza pizza must be better

  • http://www.rhysespieces.com Rhys

That’s amazing. Pizza Pizza’s sooo goood and yup, I’m a former east coaster. UBC and PNE here I come.

  • SK

Pizza Pizza is wicked by the slice, quite average when ordering a whole pizza for delivery, I know it makes no sense, but it’s the same with Nat’s in Van……
The location in the PNE is gross though, it’s not the same as back east. It’s good stuff though for sure!!!

  • Silva

Ahh pizza pizza. Its open till 2-3am back home and its not the greatest, but its one of those things you grew up with. Its probably the first pizza i ever had, and i know the crust tastes like cardboard, but you cant beat a walk-in special for a large pepperoni for 6 bucks after the booze runs dry at 2am. Its not like vancouver is leading the way with a pizza revolution. Aside from nats on broadway, goldies downtown, and felicia’s on hastings, those are the only hand tossed pizzas in the city. All pizza pizza locations tossed it by hand.
