artsydartsy_via Greetings Vancouver is Awesome readers! We here at Artsy-Dartsy are proud to be new contributors to VIA.

A brief background on us: We are Linus and Denise. So pleased to meet you! We love art and design, hence we started a website called Artsy-Dartsy.com to help people like us find out about art and design events in our awesome city of Vancouver!

This week there are tons of great events happening. For the full listing please head to Artsy-Dartsy.com.

Ongoing from Oct 15 till Oct 31 is the Live Performance Art Biennale. It’s not often that you get a chance to view performance art purely because of the nature of it. It is something that is temporal and requires an audience as opposed to painting or sculpture where an object constitutes the work. Most notable artist in this genre are Chris Burden, Yoko One, Joseph Beuys and Allan Kaprow.

Multiple performances by various artist are happening around the city at 221A Artist Run Centre, Centre A, VIVO, and Chapel Arts. Please check www.livebiennale.ca for the full schedule of events.

The Vancouver Art Gallery is also having their Good FUSE/Bad FUSE on Friday, Oct 23, beginning at 6pm. It’s a good chance to dress up spooky, see some art, and have some fun all together. Performances will be running all night. We’re looking forward to seeing Thrill the World Vancouver – Diwali vx. Thriller: Zombies and a South Asian battle between good and evil!! Also performing are 2 boys.tv, Gwendoline Togin, UBC Girlz, and Michael Turner.

Blanche Macdonald Centre will be providing scars and black eyes for the night!

Admission is free for members or $19.50 for the evening. If you enjoy the VAG and FUSE events consider getting a membership! Individual Memberships are $70 for the year and you get to attend all the shows are FUSE events for free.

Other notables: The Or Gallery is having Future Social: UBC Social Housing Design Ideas Competition exhibit, we’re saying a sad ‘good bye’ to the Helen Pitt Gallery at their Gastown location with their Time capsule Party, Ayden Gallery is having a show on Robots and Monsters, and there are tons of free lectures on this week. Don’t forget the LIVE performance art biennale as well.
