FIREWORKS! FIREWORKS! FIREWORKS!

October 28, 2009

Last year you had to go out to Burnaby to buy fireworks (which you could ignite within the City of Vancouver with a permit). Click HERE to see Joey’s post from one year ago today.

I’m happy to report that the bylaw has been changed for this year! I am almost certain that you’ve already noticed a couple FIREWORKS popup stores in your hood. I have yet to go into one of them but HERE are the details on the rules from the City’s web site.

Note that “Family Fireworks may only be purchased between October 25th to October 31st, 2009. Fireworks can only be discharged on Halloween, October 31st. To obtain the permit to purchase and discharge Family Fireworks, the person must be over 19 years of age, pass an online “Fire Safety Quiz,” and produce two pieces of identification when purchasing.”

Be safe, and have fun!

LETTER OF THE WEEK

October 28, 2009

“Hey guys,

First and foremost I wanna say thanks again for hosting the ticket giveaway [to see Michael Jackson's This Is It]. Too bad the premier had to land on a weekday (I only had 4 hours sleep) but it was totally worth it. I figured I owed it to you guys to write a short review.

In a nutshell: it was 2 hours of pure awe. In my humble opinion, Michael Jackson is a God among musicians in this generation. When he sings, people listen. When he moves, people watch. And that was definitely the case last night at the midnight showing of “This Is It”. In the documentary, you see the not-so-frail MJ doing what he does best, being a perfectionist. Down to every beat, every rhythm, every pause (“You gotta let it simmer. You gotta let it bathe in the moonlight,”). It was good to see Michael in his “natural habitat”, singing, dancing and joking with the dancers and crew members. This final curtain call definitely reminds us how awesome MJ is.

Thanks again guys for the tickets and keep up the good work on promoting our beloved hometown!

Ron K.”

Named after Lord Baden Powell, the dude who started the Boy Scouts, the trail was constructed in 1971 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of …READ THE REST OF THIS ENTRY>>>
