TONIGHT! Laughing Stock 72 Hour Comedy Film Gala Awards

Vancouver, BC, November 17, 2009—Films Talk Entertainment is proud to present the 1st LAUGHING STOCK 72 HOUR COMEDY FILM COMPETITION in Vancouver, BC! In partnership with The Comedy Network, Films Talk Entertainment brings laughter and light to this rainy city with Canada’s very first 72-hour comedy film competition. Comedy is a tough genre. Making a film in 72 hours is just plain crazy. Making a short comedic film in 72 hours? That’s something else. Armed with coffee, instant noodles and funny ideas, on Friday, November 20, comedic hopefuls will scurry off into their creative caves only to emerge 72 hours later with the best comedic short film ever. “This is an incredible opportunity for local filmmakers to possibly win some cash and great prizes as well
as have their short film featured on the Comedy Network’s website,” says Ryan Catherwood, Laughing Stock Executive Producer.
The winning team will receive $1,500 and bragging rights at the Gala Awards night at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4 at the Caprice Night Club – 967 Granville Street. Also up for grabs is the $500 Best Director cash prize, and more than $4,000 worth of donated prizes from industry sponsors. The best short films will be available for viewing at The Comedy Network’s “Upload Yours”
uly.thecomedynetwork.ca, the home for user-generated comedy in Canada.

“There’s so much talent here in Vancouver. With the recent funding cuts to provincial arts programs and the lack of spaces to screen locally made short films, competitions like this offer filmmakers a chance to showcase their creativity at a great venue, and to continue building our amazing film community.”
