Bobby Paul Art Benefit

POSTED December 5, 2009 BY Randy Laybourne / Lookforwardtothepast

The “Bored of Canvas” deck show / benefit for the food bank at Bobby Paul in Port Moody raised $600 in the period of 3 hrs. Not only was the show a success but there was a winter festival that had children of all ages bundled up in toques and coats scrambling all over the place.

bobbypaul-32
Kris Kupskay, one of the artists, made sure everyone was in the know.

bobbypaul-1
Six select artists were involved in creating the art for the decks.

bobbypaul-2
Getting the decks ready to show.

bobbypaul-8
A view of the shop.

bobbypaul-9
Another view of Bobby Paul, run by brother and sister, Robbie and Julie Horvath.

bobbypaul-5
Marina Mikulic’s board.

bobbypaul-11
This deck painted by Dave McGhee.

bobbypaul-12
Kris Kupskay did this skateboard.

bobbypaul-19
The contribution of David Arias.

bobbypaul-7
The board I painted had a cat-like character spouting off.

bobbypaul-18
TJ Schneider did this board with ink and watercolor.

bobbypaul-33
The free horse carriage rides had parents and kids lined up for a couple blocks in the cold.

bobbypaul-34
Local musicians played without gloves on.

bobbypaul-35
Gingerbread people were created and eaten with joy.

bobbypaul-56
I did one that was more an abstract expressionist representation of a gingerbread person.

bobbypaul-38
A big tree with blue lights was the center of attention on one of the streets.

bobbypaul-39
The children’s choir did their very best.

bobbypaul-40
Santa was there of course.

bobbypaul-41
Chestnuts were roasting.

bobbypaul-42
Marshmallows were toasted over the coals.

bobbypaul-44
The Grinch and Kris Kupskay got along pretty good.

bobbypaul-52
And Kris made friends with Le Bonhomme. (does that mean cool guy in French?)

bobbypaul-49
The shop owners, Julie and Robbie Horvath.

bobbypaul-54
The parting shot….
