HBC weightloss program
POSTED December 14, 2009 BY Jon Coleman
There I was deep in the belly of the Bay, faced with the decision; Hanes or Stansfield… regarding the purchase of tighty whities. The decision was tough and just when I thought the answer was nearing, I had to drain the snake. On my quest for the mens lavatory I stumbled upon this ancient stairway and map.
Now if the economy has a stranglehold on your wallet this holiday season, I say lose your gym pass, but not your health. Enjoy a piece of Vancouver heritage and take advantage of one of our oldest stairmasters.

which staircase is this, I know its in the dt bay but don’t most of the staircases say they will trip the alarm, I love those old store maps, what does the 15 feet etc bit mean?

That’s the staff staircase on the east side of the building. It goes alll the way up and down, I can sweatily attest to it.

It is a near stairwell, but I don’t get why it has to look so forgotten… I love stairs! If they made them a more visible option, I’m sure more of those like you and me would take them!

The curved handrail is pretty choice. Some fine woodwork. The 15ft refers to the floor to ceiling height on each level. So 126ft from the bottom to top… give or take.
