THE PROOF – CALEN KNAUF

POSTED December 27, 2009 BY Bob Kronbauer
Tweet

“Calen was born in East Vancouver and will probably die in East Vancouver…  he doesn’t really like anything… he either loves it or hates it. Some things that he loves are: skateboarding, design, cereal, double features, seafood rice noodle, shoes, red vines, staying up late, bahn mei, stale candy, rats, Vancouver, jackets, smooth ground, reservoir tips, Kingsway, helping friends, collecting furniture, graffiti, playing records, climbing, hosting pictionary, computer monitors, and being right. Some things that he hates are: fur protesters, rough ground, and people that dont take the tag off the sleeve of their wool coats.” – Greg Papove

The Proof

1. This is my office. I spend more time here than anywhere else. I do any hand work at the big desk.
2. All digital work gets done here. Two monitors and a tablet is the only way to go.
3. I love furniture. I obsess over it. I do allot of just sitting and thinking in my living room.
4. I suppose I could have organized these better but this is where my ideas go as I work on projects. I kinda keep pilling things on top of older things so I can try and do better than the the last thing I did. It also keeps me aware of all the projects Im working on.
5. this is where all the messy work gets done.
6. Working at home I get stir crazy sometimes. I also feel like my brain dosent work so good and it needs a kickstart, some something stupid usually does the trick.
7. I always love pocket and bag contents pictures. so here is what I carry in my pockets at all times.
8. last but not least. the skateboard. life is not worth living without it.

The Questions

What neighborhood do you live in?
Bacon Lane/Mount Pleasant.

What do you do and where?
Design, and I do it from my Home office. Sometimes if there are funner things to do I will do it on the road or on the back of a camel (I’ve never actually designed anything on the back of a camel).

What are you working on?
Many things. I’m in the middle of a pretty cool little collection of gear for Stussy right now, I’ve got some more tees coming up with Adidas. Some friends of mine have asked me to do a city guide map for them that I think will be really cool.

Where can we find your work?
Um, the Stussy store or anywhere else that carrys it, Not sure if there are any of my tees in Adidas yet. Itunes store has got that New Ali Milner album, I think its in stores now too, Im not sure.

Also which websites would you like mentioned?
My site I suppose: calenknauf.com. And the homies as well: tylerquarles.com, conradbrowndesign.com, scotty2hotty69.tumblr.com, dancliman.blogspot.com
