Recently relaunched with some fancy new tools for members (free to join!), we’re taking advantage of what they’ve set up by bringing you a fresh batch of music every week featuring local groups who have tracks (entire albums, even!) on the R3 site.

Every Monday we highjack their PLAYLIST tool to bring you a selection of great music from bands based in Vancouver, and this week we asked 2009 Best New Artist Bucky Award winner, Vancouver singer-songwriter Hannah Georgas to select a few of her favourite local tracks for you all in our second Guest Playlist.

Why is this not a Zamboni?   Vancouver is one of the few NHL arenas which uses an Olympia ice resurfacer, the rest use the better known Zamboni.

I’m sure there are plenty of good reasons to use an Olympia ice resurfacer, but none of them are probably very interesting.  So we are left to speculate that the real reason is that a Zamboni is built on a Jeep chassis, something which those at an arena sponsored by General Motors may frown upon.    See what happens when you don’t drink at hockey games….you come back with stuff like this.

I could have sworn I saw a Calvin and Hobbes bumper sticker on it too…not sure what it was peein’ on though…..

The Proof

1. This is my office. I spend more time here than anywhere else. I do any hand work at the big desk.
2. All digital work gets done here. Two monitors and a tablet is the only way to go.
3. I love furniture. I obsess over it. I do allot of just sitting and thinking in my living room.

The cats rule East Vancouver. They’re everywhere…sidewalks, roads, hiding in doorways, supervising stores, sprawled out anywhere to have a bath. The cats I meet while wandering through East Van are probably all house-pets but it’s not clear who ‘owns’ them. Cats are all about territory, but all space is public to them.

Stay tuned…When the project is finished I hope to have photographed every one of the East Van Cats!

Christmas day, the only day I have the intestinal fortitude to tackle No. 3 Rd. via car.  Looks like it maybe wasn’t big enough or crazy enough, or maybe we weren’t ready for something that big and crazy.
