As a Colombo-Canadian I am more than proud of these words, they reprensent the true North American spirt. I am glad of being Canadian not just as a word or as the citizenship. I am glad of being Canadian by heart.
The truth is that Canada makes you more and therfore WE ARE MORE!

I was born in Victoria and moved to California during High School. I was never more proud of my Canadian roots than last night, especially listening to Shane’s WE ARE MORE poem. Absolutely brilliant! Watching the opening ceremony makes me so homesick for BC. Much love to my True North Strong and Free Brothers and Sisters!

Before I crossed from the Old World to the New, I had a choice: America, Australia or Canada. I chose Canada and Canada welcomed me. That was nearly 40 years ago and I have never been prouder to say, “I am Canadian than when I was watching the opening ceremonies and all that went with it in the days preceding them: the pictures of the awesome beauty of our land, our people who have contributed so much to the world at large, our National character that speaks with the voice of friendship, courtesy, compassion and plain common sense. We’re not all saints, just ordinary, everyday kind of people who try to be good neighbours to the world at large – yes, I’m really proud to be Canadian.

I loved it and yes… one of the best things about the opening ceremonies… definitely what makes us different from the US and some other English speaking countries.
