Making Out to Beach House

Beach House have described the sound of their music as "making out," and I think half of those in attendance at the Rickshaw Theatre agreed. Everywhere I turned couples were taking in the band's dreamy sound and expressing their love for one another.

Beach House have described the sound of their music as "making out," and I think half of those in attendance at the Rickshaw Theatre agreed. Everywhere I turned couples were taking in the band's dreamy sound and expressing their love for one another. Love was in the air.

Beach House released one of my favourite albums of this year, Teen Dream. Their 2006 release Devotion captured my heart and I've had both albums continuously on repeat, which has greatly intensified my girl crush for Victoria Legrand. It may be kind of obvious from the following photos that I adore the girl, and while I may blame the lack of shots of the other members on the low lighting (partly true), I also just couldn't take my eyes off of her.

Walking into the Richshaw Theatre I felt as if I'd entered an 80's prom. The stage was decorated in shimmering, confetti coated diamonds along with shimmering ropes hanging from the ceiling. As Victoria Legrand walked onto the stage, her white blazer and ruby lips only added to this 80's prom essence. The band managed to play every one of my favourite songs, and considering I have quite a few it was a great feat. "Norway" was the highlight of the night for me. For the previous songs the band had been draped in low lights of red, blue, and green but when Legrand broke out into the song's breathy notes, the blistering pace of the lights accompanied the song's arrangement perfectly. When the show was over, I walked out of the theatre feeling satisfied and light-headed with butterflies in my stomach. Just like a good make out.
