All British Field Meet – video!

May 27, 2010

Randy shared a collection of images he shot at the All British Field Meet not long ago, and the organizers just sent me this video that they put together. Well worth checking out, and if you can spot and call out the Vancouver musician who randomly appears in the video walking past the camera you get extra props…

“With over 630 classic cars on display, the 2010 edition of the Vancouver All British Field Meet was one of the best yet. Held in the beautiful VanDusen Botanical Gardens, this year’s show featured the Jaguar E-Type and British-built Fords. We check out a few of the highlights, including an AC Ace, 1934 Aston Martin Ulster, and a Jaguar E-Type.”

Alley Finds

May 27, 2010

I recently had the pleasure of being invited up to the apartment of Alex and his fiancée Katie (Katie was in Wisconsin) for a Sunday morning chat post-Lost Lagoon stroll.

Upon entering their humble West End abode in the sky, the first words out of my mouth were in regards to this handsome, plush leather love seat:

Note the handsome, plush leather love seat.

Me: That’s a really handsome, plush leather love seat. Where did you get it?
Alex: In the alley, if you can believe it. But I am pretty sure I saw it on Craigslist first.

It’s Not Easy Being Green. But It’s Not That Hard, Either.

May 26, 2010

Two sets of passes to the EPIC Vancouver Sustainable Living Expo this weekend at the Vancouver Convention Centre!

Kim already gave a bit of a rundown on this fun (and family friendly!) event earlier today and if that made you raise an intrigued eyebrow than perhaps a chance for you and a guest to partake will be enough to get you to leave a winning comment …

7 reasons to come to our show, A Night at MOV, on Friday May 28th
Reason #5: FREE access to the museum exhibits

May 26, 2010

In the 7 days leading up to our inaugural A Night at MOV talk show at the Museum Of Vancouver (learn about it HERE), I’m giving you 7 reasons why you should attend.

REASON #5:
FREE ACCESS TO THE MUSEUM EXHIBITS! In the time leading up to the show (doors open at 7 and the show starts at 8) as well as after the show you’ll have access to the exhibits in the Museum, including the new Fox, Fluevog and Friends exhibit shown below and HERE. It’s normally a $12 admission fee but it’s FREE with your ticket to see a Night at MOV! We’ll have a bar there so you can browse the exhibits and have a drink, then enjoy the show, then have another drink. It’s gonna be a great night. Seriously.

52 Weeks of ‘East Van Cats’ – WEEK 35

May 26, 2010

The cats rule East Vancouver. They’re everywhere…sidewalks, roads, hiding in doorways, supervising stores, sprawled out anywhere to have a bath. The cats I meet while wandering through East Van are probably all house-pets but it’s not clear who ‘owns’ them. Cats are all about territory, but all space is public to them.

Stay tuned…When the project is finished I hope to have photographed every one of the East Van Cats!

SBC #12.2

May 26, 2010

Cover: Vancouver’s Spencer Hamilton, massive frontside half-cab kickflip in China. Photo: Matt Daughters

As always, Vancouver-based skaters are well represented in SBC Skateboard magazine’s summer release. Cover boy Spenny Hamilton has a 16-page feature interview; RDS gets seriously profiled over a 14-page span; there’s a “Worldly Possesions” spread with Bryan Wherry; a “Firsts” with Wade Fyfe; “Anthology” with Russ Milligan, and much more…Click here for sneak peaks of Issue 12.2, which should hit stands shortly.
