It’s a new dog every day, click here to find out how to get your dog featured here if you haven’t sent in your photos yet!

Today’s dog featured in Dogtown Vancouver is Baron Jacques de Jambon, Richard G’s pup. Here’s what he had to say about him…

NAME: Baron Jacques de Jambon.
BREED: French Bulldog.
HOOD: Gastown.
FAVORITE SNACK: Frozen Grapes & ear buds.
OTHER INFO: Jacques is a ladies man. Perfume wafting on Water St. him gets riled up. He’s not just a lover but a fighter. Any dog up for the challenge will provoke his patented On-the-Spot Triple 360s.

The Playground – Week 3

May 26, 2010
Welcome to The Playground, a place for Vancouver parents and their awesome kids. Every Wednesday I post a roundup of upcoming family-friendly events and activities. I’m always on the lookout for fun stuff to do, so if there’s something happening that you think I should know about, contact me at theplayground@vancouverisawesome.com. Because Vancouver is awesome for kids too!

LOTS to do this week if you’re looking for a change from the swings and the monkey bars:

It’s Family Fuse Weekend at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Artists, musicians, filmmakers and performers help families discover personal histories through historic and contemporary art. Rediscover the Gallery through animation and drawing workshops, dance performances, live music, special exhibition tours and much more. I’ve been to Fuse for grownups but never to Family Fuse, so I’m very excited to check this out! May 29 and 30 from 10-5, free for members and children 12 and under, otherwise regular admission rates apply.

EPIC: The Vancouver Sun Sustainable Living Expo is happening May 28-30. …READ THE REST OF THIS ENTRY>>>

Big enough list of music, eh? Well that was only Friday and Saturday here in Vancouver.

EAST VAN DISHES….

May 25, 2010

A few weeks back, I made this post about possibly one of the highlights of my year, finding out that TSN was now basic cable.

In the comments section Keith Chan let me know that Novus also offered a pretty good package so, I thought I’d give them a phone call. You know what I got…

“We don’t offer it in your area….’

My basic cable high, was now a basic cable low, I know my package is decent, but it sucks when you get rejected like that, even if it’s just cable. For a second there, I was ranking this right up there with rollerblades in the ‘man..they got everything downtown’ category.

Then it struck me, as I walked past this house below in my hood. I counted ‘em…not one, not two, but three satellite dishes! There was one in the back to boot. This made me feel that much better. Keith Chan, now I know maybe this is dated technology….but I’d like to see you cram four satellite dishes in your Yaletown condo. Not sayin’ I’m gonna, but if I wanted to, I could join every fourth house in East Vancouver and get at least one of these babys.

ppphhhhhtttt

May 25, 2010

Can you see that? Taste it? Hear it? That right there my friends, right there behind that white hatch back with rims so recognizable google had to blank them out, beside the Chevron sign, is FREE AIR! And it’s good for the pumpin’. Stuff it in your car tire, bike tube, skateboard wheel or beat up nikes. Whatever dude, it’s free, dig in!

On the corner of 3rd Avenue and Burrard Street.

7 reasons to come to our show, A Night at MOV, on Friday May 28th
Reason #4: Dan Mangan

May 25, 2010

In the 7 days leading up to our inaugural A Night at MOV talk show at the Museum Of Vancouver (learn about it HERE), I’m giving you 7 reasons why you should attend.

REASON #4:
One of our favourite Vancouver musicians, Dan Mangan, will be playing some tunes for you! Maybe you missed his sold out show at the Vogue, maybe you attended his sold out show at the Vogue and wanted more, or maybe you’ve never seen him live before. Our friends at CalgaryIsAwesome.com recorded this video below with him a little while back, which is somewhat like the experience he’ll be providing our intimate audience of 210 folks this Friday. But instead of being in a kitchen he’ll be on a small stage with his guitar plugged in, singing into a microphone, between our interviews and other segments we have planned…

Facebook event page HERE. Get your tickets HERE!
