200 artists. 400 pieces of art. $200 each.

To gear you up for it, in the coming days leading up to the show we're bringing you a virtual two four of artists who have work in The Cheaper Show #9.

Artist 17 is Mélanie Rocan.

The Cheaper Show #9 happens June 26th! In case you're unfamiliar, here's the deal:

Mélanie Rocan has recently completed her Masters in Fine Arts, painting program at Concordia University, in Montreal. In 2003, she graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours Degree, thesis in painting.

Mélanie Rocan’s workspeaks of the fragility of human beings and the reality of the subconscious state. I want to capture a distressed beauty in the work which suggests the inner emotional condition, highs and lows, a psychological unease.

Due to her mounting success, Rocan has shown nationally in numerous group and solo exhibitions including the LES Gallery in Vancouver, Paul Petro in Toronto and La Maison des Artistes. Rocan is also the recipient of awards, grants as scholarships as well as participating and becoming a semi-finalist in the 9th annual RBC painting competition.

*Art shown is sample work only, actual works for sale revelaed June 26th.
