Annie Hoff and Levin O'Connor, aka Now Improv, are improvisers from LA. Annie and Levin met in 2005 as cast members of the iO West house team The Jungle. They spent the next five years performing together in a variety of shows including the Del Close Award winning USS Rock N Roll (which is also at the fest). These days they are touring the nation with their show Now? and teaching workshops at theaters, festivals and schools from coast to coast. We're super excited to travel to the VIIF next week to play as Now, in USS Rock N Roll and in the International Ensemble! In the meantime, here are the places in Los Angeles that we like to hang out.
This is Mi's Westside Comedy Theater - Santa Monica, CA - Home of NOW? with Annie & Levin. We are also both on the teaching staff. This is a great new theater that just opened its doors last April. Since then it's become one of the fastest growing communities of comedy in LA. Passionate improvisers, stand-ups and sketch teams are all are building a community of acceptance together. Cafe Tropical - Echo Park, Ca - Levin's place to get coffee in Los Angeles. SO strong, SO hot. NICE! Also try the guava pie! A great place to relax outside and get a taste of a wide mix of local culture!
Griffith Park Dog Park - Los Feliz, Ca - Madera's favorite place to meet up with some friends and have a pal around. Shady trees, dirt for digging and a water faucet. A MUST visit if you are a dog in LA. Also great for human watching.
iOwest - Hollywood, CA - Home of USS Rock N Roll. Great Bar, great shows, great people. A great community of improvisers and actors pushing the art of long form improv based in emotional connection and ensemble work. Get a slice of Chicago right in the heart of Hollywood. Atwater Village Bakery - Atwater Village, CA - Desserts, desserts, desserts. A great breakfast and coffee joint with an array of baked goods. From fresh breads, to sweet ass cookies this place has it all. Not great for people watching, mostly just for eating. Really friendly staff and great atmosphere. Madera likes the water bowl. YUM!
