SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in
Vancouver.

We interview some of our favourite local artists, post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in
Music’ highlights some of the concerts happening around the city..

I’m back! Thanks so much to Leigh Eldridge for being me while I was in Ontario for September. This weekend was a mixture of awesome music and photo pass shenanigans…I returned the DAY OF the Tokyo Police Club show and battled with door staff about my shooting privileges. Short version was told many different things and wasn’t pleased, so I managed to stay awake for We Are The City and part of the Arkells and then gave into my jet-lag. The next day was Land Of Talk, Suuns and Rah Rah at the Biltmore. I shot 2/3 but, L.O.T. requested no photos so I only have my audio memories of her set… Rah Rah, however, blew me away as always… Check out the shots below.

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: This week is full of options to satisfy your indie music needs… Thursday the one and only Grant Lawrence is having his book launch party at the Museum of Vancouver and his lovely wife Jill Barber, as well as Said The Whale will be performing. Later that night it is the final Peak Performance Project showcase at the Red Room. Friday sees Prairie Cat, Shane Abram and Adelaide at Scratch on Dicks. And finally Saturday is crazy with Japandroids/Ladyhawk at the Rickshaw, Top Less Gay Love Tekno Party at the Media Club and Sad Mag Live at The Cultch. My loyalties will be tested that day… see you around!
