Vancouver Foundation’s Vital Signs for Metro Vancouver is proud to share a story with you about the program called Beauty Night.

This program gives women in the Downtown Eastside a night to be beautiful, a night to be pampered. It provides makeovers, teaches women about life skills and provides fitness programs to women who live in this neighbourhood.

This is an amazing program.

This organization promotes health and wellness, they give women a chance to learn, and provide them with a place to belong and form connections. That is the true healing power of Beauty Night.

This story and yesterday’s story about Having a Ball highlight the incredible value of social connections. The benefits to the participants include increased physical activity, better health, self-esteem, learning opportunities, increased community safety and a sense of belonging just to name a few.

Supporting these types of programs is a natural fit for Vancouver Foundation and makes all the more sense when we look at this year’s Vital Signs results.
