The Proof - Marquo Blaquiere

When MarQuo is behind the microphone he ensures that everybody within earshot hears what’s on his mind - and it’s not always pretty.

When MarQuo is behind the microphone he ensures that everybody within earshot hears what’s on his mind - and it’s not always pretty. His lyrics are riddled with disquieting imagery; when he shouts them out at you, you might consider that perhaps he’s gone mad. You may want to look away in horror. This notion is quickly fleeting however because the frightening aura gives way to something quite delightful as he utilizes his vocal chords in a way that is agreeably sweet. He is at his best when the dichotomy collides and he exhibits something that is both lovable and potentially hazardous; kind of like a bowl of strawberry ice cream with a healthy drizzling of Drano.

The Questions

What neighborhood do you live in?

I live in Mount Pleasant and have been here for close to a decade. In that time i have seen the hood transform into the artist rich community that it is now. Lot's of great people and cool take out restaurants. I love the city and love the hood.

What do you do and where?

I write music and perform with GO Ghetto Tiger and Fat Park Music.

I spend lots of time working on promotions and booking shows for both bands.

I enjoy recording in studio's like Fortissimo Sound and Electric Wolverine as well as the home studios of Derek Simpson and Scott Boudreau. Most of the writing takes place at my home apartment that I share with my beautiful girlfriend Jessica.

I work as TOEIC proctor at an ESL school downtown and spend most of my weekday mornings

making great espresso shots at Cuppa Joe on Main St.

What are you working on?

With GO Ghetto Tiger I am in the process of promoting our new EP (X is Pain)

With Fat Park Music we will be recording material in Dec. I look forward to writing and programming new material for this project as well.

Creating music for the purpose of recording and live performance is always on the brain.
