The Proof - Lindsey Hampton

Before she quit her job, I would pin the number of coffees Lindsey Hampton made me at 1,000. Brewing the first, Lindsey had bleached hair, un-prescribed glasses and a stack of aspirations in graphic design. We talked about them.

Before she quit her job, I would pin the number of coffees Lindsey Hampton made me at 1,000.

Brewing the first, Lindsey had bleached hair, un-prescribed glasses and a stack of aspirations in graphic design. We talked about them. She invited me to a drawing party at her place, and tactfully implied that it wasn't a date.

Brewing the 1,000th, Lindsey had become art director of Discorder, occasionally touring the west coast as half of Friendship & The Fawn. She was getting out of the daily grind, pun intended. Her hair was its natural brown, and she didn't mind the world knowing her vision is 20/20.

So Lindsey left me in the cafe to pursue those aspirations. Now she's a freelance graphic designer, and does not look impoverished. She continues womanning the helm of Discorder, not to mention fulfilling a full-time's wage worth of projects she's too busy to relate to me. No telephone pole goes un-pasted with one of Lindsey's posters; she's subliminally responsible for more ticket sales than anyone in Vancouver.

I miss Lindsey these days. I'm still sitting here. I know she's happy and successful - no hard feelings. But who knows what could've happened at coffee 2,000?
