Own the podium. Actually, really, for reals own it for $39.99.

This past weekend the streets of downtown Vancouver were blocked off to celebrate the one year anniversary of the 2010 Olympics.

This past weekend the streets of downtown Vancouver were blocked off to celebrate the one year anniversary of the 2010 Olympics. Later today I'm going to tell you all about the street hockey game that I played in on Granville Street but first I'll skip to the end of it and how I ended up standing on the very podium that Alexandre Bilodeau accepted his gold medal on. I'm pretty sure our team lost but still somehow I ended up standing atop this thing. Whaaaat?

The deal is this: you can buy a piece of one of the actual podiums for $39.99 at The Bay on Granville and when you make that purchase you can then don a game worn Team Canada jersey of your choice (pictured all around us in the photo above) and hop onto the podium and get your photo taken. Net proceeds of the sale of all 20,001 individual podium pieces (they're about 2"w x 1" h) go to support the Canadian Olympic Team. If you don't live in Vancouver you can also visit The Bay's website to purchase a Piece of the Podium online.

Below is the piece we picked up for the V.I.A. office:
