HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Vancouver musician David Vertesi, who co-conspired the Get Your Heart On videos, and the FREE show at Sitka tonight, with us, has created a make-out mixtape for you today! Check out what he's got to say about the art of the mix tape, then click the images to hear it (and grab someone to make out with!) - I encourage you to make your own mix-tape and post it in the comments section! See you at the show tonight! We'll be the ones getting our heart on after this crazy week of indie music lovin'...

I’m not the hugest fan of Valentines Day, but as a hopeless romantic there is one part of it that I can’t help but love:  It’s an excuse to make Romantic Mix Tapes!

Lord knows that there are many ways to impress your crush; Some people use physical prowess, some use financial success, some even use skills like cooking or fixing computers!  However, in my humble opinion there are few methods as effective, sophisticated, or subtle at winning over your sweetheart as the good ol’ fashioned Mix Tape.

I mean, a great compilation doesn’t just express how you feel about another person it tells them a little bit about you too.  For instance:

Are you sensitive? (Singer/Songwriter)

Are you mature? (Anything Classical or Jazz)

Do you have a wild side? (Hip hop/Dance)

Do you have a sense of nostalgia? (Motown/Classic Rock)

Do you have a sense of humour ? (Weird Al)

And of course… Are you really hip and cool? (Any band that they haven’t heard of yet)

This Valentines Day  I am attempting to keep this ancient art alive with my own little playlist of songs by Vancouver(esque) artists… all in the key of love.

Enjoy!
