Daily Flickr Pickr Day 410

Every day we share a single photo from our Flickr Pool shot by one of our faithful and talented readers (that’s you!). In a previous post I had mentioned that I've visited quite a few of the Gulf Islands over the years; almost all of them, in fact.

In a previous post I had mentioned that I've visited quite a few of the Gulf Islands over the years; almost all of them, in fact. I didn't set out with the goal to see them all, it just seems to be working out that way. And while each island has a different history and a different vibe with different people, they all share some of the same geographic details. Which makes sense of course, you know, geographically speaking.

Yet you don't need to board a ferry to find these details - they are here on the mainland as well, they are just a little harder to find along a shoreline that now features beaches, port facilities, industrial areas and even our beloved seawall. As seen in Sunset from Lighthouse Park by popejon2, you can witness the rugged coast that was carved by receding glaciers thousands of years ago, and pounded continuously by an unrelenting and salty ocean ever since.

I'm not suggesting you cancel your trip to see the Malaspina Galleries on Gabriola Island or anything, but this is really nice - bathed in some beautiful light from the Golden Hour and featuring some lovely atmospheric perspective in the background, I am sold. I hope you didn't get your feet wet popejon2.
