sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. We interview some of our favourite local artists, post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in Music’ highlights some of the concerts happening around the city...

So much going on last week, it was hard to keep up! Guilt and Company's anniversary was a blast (I'll post some shots soon!), and from what I remember of the whirlwind that was our 2 minutes on stage at Girls Girls Girls, I think The Hornettes did well! After that crazy night I barely made it out to other events during the week, but SUNDAY was a big day. K'OS and Hannah Georgas taped performances at George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight (you can find Hannah's videos online HERE and HERE...and K'OS will be on the show tonight!)...then I walked a few blocked over to catch 41st and Home, Sandman Viper Command and beekeeper at the Railway Club. Excellent end to the weekend...

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: starts TONIGHT! Make sure you head over to St James Hall to catch Matt Epp's CD Release show! (did you see his playlist this week?) Wednesday is the Lab Magazine Issue #3 Launch Party at the Waldorf - 4 acts including Rococode and David Vertesi are performing! Thursday is the 2nd Matt in our Double Matt Playlist this week, Northcote's CD Release at the Media Club...don't miss it! Friday there are many shows going on, I will probably be checking out Jody Glenham (opening for Seattle musician Fences) at the Biltmore. Saturday is HUGE! First off I'd recommend the show many ladies have been calling 'the handsomest show in Vancouver': Portage & Main, Adrian Glynn and David Vertesi perform for West Coast Pop at the Red Room (you know where I'll be). Handsome overload? Check out Dan Mangan's Smorgasbord event for "End Homelessness Now" - Veda Hille, Aidan Knight, The Crackling, Charlie Demers +more. (come to think of it, that has a lot of handsome too...I mean, the MAYOR is going to be there). Have a wonderful week!
