We recently took a trip to Tofino for the launch of the first annual Feast!, a month-long culinary event taking place on the beautiful West Coast Vancouver Island communities of Tofino and

Ucluelet, BC. The event celebrates the abundance of locally available seafood and the sustainable boat-to-table practices commonly employed by the area's restaurants and the Tofino-Ucluelet Culinary Guild.

The Pacific Sands Resort, located on the shores of Cox Bay, is a sponsor of Feast! and they put us up for a couple of nights. Check out Pacific Sands' Feast BC packages and stay tuned as we highlight some of the more awesome points of this family-owned destination resort.

In last year's Georgia Straight BEST OF awards we took home an editor's pick for "Best Navel Gazing Web Site", and while our non-profit organization that supports our web site (Vancouver Is Awesome, Inc) is focused on celebrating all of the awesome things that make up our city one of those things is it's proximity to other awesome places. In Super, Neighbours in British Columbia we take you on adventures to other BC locales that we think you should check out.

Coming to Tofino always feels like some sort of blessing. Right on the edge of the Pacific Rim National Park, it's where rain forest collides with ocean and some of the most relaxing yet dramatic views in the world. On this trip we were put up in this luxury 2-bedroom villa and if I had to sum it up I would say that these were the most comfortable accommodations I have ever been afforded on any trip in my entire lifetime. What you see below was our little house for a couple of days.

Below are some shots of the inside of our villa. Click for detail.

The equation looks something like this: 2 bedrooms + 3 flat screen TVs + 2 gas fireplaces + 1 fully equipped kitchen + 1 washer/drier + 12 foot ceilings + 1 geothermally heated floor + 1 soaker tub + 2 balconies = infinite awesomeness. And the crazy thing is that although it looks and sounds incredibly fancy (and it is) the price isn't likely reserved for folks outside of your tax bracket: rates start at $400 and are based on 4 people staying here. You could comfortably house 6 or even 8 people in this home away from home and end up paying less than what you'd pay to stay in an average Vancouver hotel room. Take a look HERE to learn more.

And stay tuned for the next post when we break ourselves away from this comfort to visit The Shelter Restaurant to kick off Feast!
