SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver.

sceneandheard SCENE AND HEARD showcases the independent music scene here in Vancouver. We interview some of our favourite local artists, post weekly guest playlists comprised of Vancouver artists and ‘Last Week in Music’ highlights some of the concerts happening around the city...

Not sure if you saw my tweet this week, but I spent part of it documenting a band recording in one of the best known studios in Vancouver. It was pretty cool...but it meant missing some of the shows this week. Luckily I got to catch/photograph Louise Burns at the Biltmore and then the wonderful Leigh Eldridge covered the rest of the show for me (Himalayan Bear, and Kathryn Calder). I hope you all had a great long weekend and rested up for this one...Sasquatch anyone?!

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: VIAindie is going on the road to Sasquatch! Look for little posts during the weekend, that's if the wifi at the Gorge lets me! Tonight however, we celebrate Bob Dylan's birthday with a show at the Railway ft. The Modelos, David Newberry, Debra Jean & the Means, Terminal Station, and Marq DeSouza. Wednesday The Crackling returns to Vancouver for their CD Release at the Media Club with The Adams Singers and White Knife (super excited!). Thursday is a HUGE night for Vancouver with the opening of Electric Owl - you have to sign up for the mailing list to RSVP. I'll be there doing a photo booth too...it's a hot ticket, so if you can't get in, head over to the Biltmore instead for NoMeansNo, Beekeeper and Hard Feelings. Friday I leave for Sasquatch (wish me luck!), but if you're in the city, head to Trees on Granville to check out Shalini, Jodi Doidge, Shera Kelly, and Winston Hauschild OR the The Anza Club for Sumner Brothers Presents: Old Bones IV. Saturday? I've got nothing for ya...feel free to leave a comment with a music event happening in the city! Sunday is Music BC's Charity Gala...hosted by our favourite, Grant Lawrence! And then rest up for Music Waste which starts next week! Phewf!

PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR VIA in the BLOG section of the UCC&Awards - Lifestyle, Sports, Events and...MUSIC! (you can only vote once, and don't have to sign up, so it's super easy.)

(FYI, I'm also in the ARTS>PHOTOGRAPHER section) xo!
