VIA reader Leanna sent in the lowdown on her "furry not-so-little friend" Hamish:

Nicknames: Pumpkin Belly, Handsome Hamish, Porpoise, Pork Pie

Breed/Colouring: Ginger Tabby—with no ties at all to the better cat families.

Hood: Marpole—strictly inside with brief, supervised visits to the balcony. Hamish's handsomeness is not in doubt; his intelligence however, is questionable.

Habits: Refuses to allow anyone to go into the bathroom without him and is a bit of a peeper when people are in the shower (can be unsettling for unsuspecting guests.) Can be Godzilla-like as he crashes over and through furniture, persons or anything else in his path once the food has been placed in the dish. Spends a great deal of time looking mournfully at his empty food dish, attempting to look waif-like and in need of nourishment. Enjoys stalking, adoring, pestering and generally being inseparable from his older and wiser but considerably more petite feline friend, the super fancy Lewis. Hamish absolutely delights in a prolonged chin rubbing (at any time of the day or night and can be quite adamant about receiving one.)

Hangouts: Various chairs and beds throughout the apartment where Hamish delights in leaving a downy carpet of orange and white hair. Still-wet bathtubs. Lurking around food dish. The top of the truly hideous but much beloved cat castle. Has recently taken to building blanket nests.

Other info: Introduced at the SPCA, and, despite his initial misgivings, Hamish agreed to take me on. Notwithstanding my best efforts and encouragement, Hamish declines to purr and simply refuses to me let me use his ample girth as a soft and lovely pillow.

Name: Hamish
