Back in March we gave you THIS first look at the cover of Kaitlin Fontana's book that she wrote about the history of Vancouver's very own Mint Records. It's coming out next month on ECW Press and they've been so kind as to share the first 18 pages in THIS EXCERPT!!! This PDF preview begins at the Slow Riot ("A culture clash of epic proportions") and how an attempt to expose independent music in Vancouver actually resulted in sending it further underground, then moves on to interviews with Mint founders Bill Baker and Randy Iwata on the beginnings of the label and it ends in a cliffhanger involving Nardwuar and Grant Lawrence. Music nerds or anyone generally interested in the history of music in this city should be chomping at the bit for this October 2011 release. Full details and pre-order HERE.
