GIANTS III: Ryan Steele and Amy Goodmurphy, Duo-ing It Right

Some things were meant to be together: yin and yang, pb and j, salt and pepper, Salt-n-Pepa. Sketch comedians Ryan Steele and Amy Goodmuprhy should be on that list.

Some things were meant to be together: yin and yang, pb and j, salt and pepper, Salt-n-Pepa. Sketch comedians Ryan Steele and Amy Goodmuprhy should be on that list. These two veterans of Vancouver’s comedy scene play off each other like mac plays off cheese. Known for their energetic live show and raunchy-wrapped-in-charming YouTube videos, Steele and Goodmurphy will showcase their synergetic talents at GIANTS III feat. Self Quest by Ryan Beil on January 14th at The Cultch.

What most people don't know is that Amy and Ryan learned all they know about acting from Ryan Beil. Luckily for you, we at Vancouver is Awesome have found the original acting instruction video featuring Amy and Ryan and the indescribably apt Ryan Beil:

Ryan Steele and Amy Goodmurphy made a name for themselves alongside the talented ensemble of The Ryan Steele Show, a sorely missed Davie Street favorite. Online and in the flesh, the particular chemistry between Steele and Goodmuphy stood out. The Ryan Steele Show has since evolved into The Ryan and Amy Show, a fitting title for a comedy team so in sync.

As comedians, Steele and Goodmurphy bring different energies but manage to combine their respective styles into a potent blend of campy, SNL-eqsue sketch comedy. Steele’s amped-up characters are perfectly counterbalanced by Goodmurphy’s infectious perma-smile charm and the mischievous edge she hides underneath. Working together, they heighten each other’s quirky charms. Steele and Goodmurphy’s chemistry is on full display in their popular Moms Over Miami videos. As perm-sporting, high-pant-wearing mom pop crooners, Steele and Goodmurphy just click.

See for yourself why they work so well together on Januray 14th at GIANTS III feat. Self Quest by Ryan Beil at The Cultch. Tickets are available now! The show also features performances from Charlie Demers, Adam Pateman, Fancy Pants and Self Quest, a play written by and starring actor/comedian Ryan Beil (when he was just 16 years old).
