The Proof - Adam Bognar

"Binge work lifestyle and international wanderlust. Fine single malt and champagne powder. Lil Wayne as business coach, Burning Man as spiritual home town. If you squint, you can see elements of design theory in a life lived like this one.

Contrast, texture, asymmetric balance, negative space; I wish he'd clean the goddamn office fridge."

The Proof

01 This is the view onto Pender street from one of our windows at The Still Brandworks. We are in the 101 year old Duncan Building in Gastown. I like things with history and legend behind them. I've also spent a lot of time building this company.

02 This is something I recently worked on! 8 pound, hand blown, gold / silver inlayed, hand calligraphed and engraved special bottlings of scotch and tequila. They were gifts for our clients this Christmas. Each one has immensely thick glass walls to transmit the colour of the spirit they contain.

03 I love riding bikes up, especially down and also in the general vicinity of mountains. In the last few years, I've gotten into touring as well as downhill mountain biking. This was something I had wanted to do since I was a kid. This is a photo of me by Ben Taft.

04 This is my 26 year old triathlon race bike, "Dave Scott". I do not do triathlons. I found her on Craigslist two summers ago and rigged some saddle bags onto her for touring. Since then I've ridden / hobo camped all over the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island. Last summer I spent a month cruising around the islands of Croatia. Hence the speargun.

05 I think I've been snowboarding for 17 years now and it is one of my great loves. Snowboarding has defined much of my life. In my teens my life revolved around it. I've also paid dearly for my love - broken hips, back and femur amongst other injuries. It still makes me just as happy as it did when I started at the age of 11. And I still ride with some of my oldest friends, especially my brother-from-another-mother, Bernard. ( Photo of me by Roy Brönniman in Grindelwald, Switzerland)

06 I discovered Burning Man 3 years ago. Much like when I started traveling and discovered "the kindness of strangers", it renewed my faith in humanity. It's given me a new lens on life and challenged my ideas of what a community or a society could be like. How people could treat each other and what passionate groups of creative individuals are capable of. Every year I leave buzzing with creativity, full of love and appreciation for my life and the people in it.

07 My parents, bless their hearts, moved us from Hungary to Vancouver when I was 7 years old. After almost 20 years and ridiculous amounts of travel near and far, I have gained a huge appreciation for where I live. I love BC and plan on spending a large portion of my life exploring it. 08 This is my truck: Battlecat, named after a vinyl sticker of He-Man riding said cat on its door. She is a 23 year old Jeep Commanche that I bought when I needed a truck to transport my downhill bike. Been to Whistler more times than I can count and made 2 pilgrimages down to Burning Man. Still kicking'!

What neighborhood do you live in?

I live with my beautiful girlfriend Ava and long time friend & colleague Ben. We share a big loft in a 102 year-old converted church at 10th and Quebec. Both of those are bike streets! I love Mount Pleasant, I'm surrounded by bikes, young people and countless breakfast joints. Lucy's Diner is even open 24/7 so I can get breakfast in the middle of the night. I love breakfast. Also, since I live at the top of a hill, it takes all of 5 minutes to ride to our office in Gastown.

The Questions

What do you do and where?

I am one of two founding partners and creative director at The Still Brandworks in Gastown.

I help solve business problems for our clients by telling honest, passionate stories about them and the things they sell. These stories can take the form of photography, print design, web design, space design, event design, film and so on.

We work exclusively with people whose conviction and projects inspire us. I truly love what I do.

What are you working on?

Currently, I am mostly working on business development. We are in the middle of growing and picking up a new client. We just wrapped some event design for The Engage Wedding Show at The Vancouver Club. Here’s a video we produced for the show.

Where can we find your work?

You can find my work at The Still Brandworks' website
