After coming out publicly as a sportfisherman in my recent Creative Mornings lecture (HERE) I figured it was time to start sharing angling adventures with you more regularly. I brought you on a RIVER DRIFT in Tofino, then to the Pacific Salmon Foundation's 25th Anniversary GALA as well as showing you their accompanying VIDEO, then I had a hankering for getting out onto the ocean and catching salmon and sharing the awesomeness in that.

I contacted Oak Bay Marine Group (a BC company celebrating their 50th anniversary this year) to see if they might be interested in doing a Super, Neighbours series on one of their nearby properties and I was thrilled when they agreed to host us at April Point Resort & Spa on Quadra Island.

Welcome to the latest series of Super, Neighbours blog posts where we highlight incredible travel destinations in British Columbia!

HERE is the first post I made about the great trip to this Quadra Island resort. And now, we have arrived!

With only 56 rooms, each with an ocean view, April Point has a great boutique feel with saltwater around the edges. We stayed in the room on the top right in this photograph below and were treated to a more than decent view off the balcony.

We also enjoyed a couple of sunsets in the adirondack chairs that spotted the grass out front, and relaxed late at night watching the lights of cruise ships slip through the pass.

The suite itself was rustic without being too much so, and was not only spacious but actually felt like a place that we'd have wanted to spend more time were there not an incredible ocean on our doorstep.

There are plenty of common areas, and the massive patio where this giant chess board is feels like you've just stepped into a village.

A village where eagles roost in the trees above, making that weird noise that they make and occasionally swooping down to pull some form of fish or another out of the ocean.

Of course it's the little things that get me excited, and April Point has its share of them. One being the fact that our room had a couple of pieces of lighting that absolutely must have been appropriated from an old fishing vessel!

Another little thing, that's actually a really big thing, is that Oak Bay Marine Group (the company that owns April Point) is turning 50 this year and they left us a bottle of the special wine that they had vinted especially to celebrate the occasion. They also left a couple of bottles of water that we'll need in one of the upcoming posts I make about our trip onto the ocean.

Stay tuned for Part 3 of this series about our trip to April Point Resort & Spa when I take you for a walk around the property and really show off some beachcombing action.
