David Suzuki's Queen Of Green, Lindsay Coulter, tipped me off to an incredible fact: there are currently 325 herons inhabiting the heronry in Stanley Park. The last time they counted the nests there were 117 of them and of those, 86 were active and each nest contained an average of 1.78 young. Below is a diagram showing the heronry located next to the Park Board building and the layout of the nests.
