hydration, and nutrition, while consuming copious amounts of alcohol,

often times in extreme heat, during a music festival"

I finally got sick...I've been waiting for it for 2 months, between Sasquatch, Tracks On Tracks, NXNE and Tall Tree, and then...3 great days at Folk Fest, mostly spent in the sunshine, and I've got a cold.

Didn't stop me from hosting the Polaris Profile last night at the Waldorf with Kathryn Calder, which was GREAT! I also caught Rah Rah and Imaginary Cities at the Waldorf last week - SO good. On Friday at the Patio Party at the Media Club, I discovered a new band (from Brooklyn) called Conveyor that I really like and saw City Of Glass again!

Then of course there was the Vancouver Folk Music Festival all weekend. Check out the list of bands I photographed: Dan Mangan, Dala, Veda Hille, Serena Ryder, Amelia Curran, Royal Wood, Good For Grapes, Wake Owl, Mark Berube, The Once, The Barr Brothers, e.s.l., The Head And The Heart, and Hey Rosetta (with a few others sprinkled here and there). To borrow a lyric "It blew my mind."

THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: begins this evening with Bruce Peninsula, The Weather Station and Adrian Glynn at the Media Club. Wednesday is a double whammy with The Voice Of The Cellar continuing ft artists like Jordan Klassen, and then over at the Media Club The Elwins and Behind Sapphire! Thursday I'll be checking out the listening party for the wonderful Ma Petite, followed by the Bend Sinister's CD Release Party at Venue - with Fields Of Green and Young Pacific. Saturday is the Khatsahlano! Festival on West 4th Ave with music all day including many VIAindie favourites like Portage and Main, The Matinee, The Zolas, Redgy Blackout, Headwater, Kathryn Calder, Ali Milner and MANY more. Later in the evening Shearwater is at the Media Club with Gold Leaves. OH! And all week and next week (and the week after) the Musical Nooners continue at the CBC - click here for the lineup.
