Welcome to The Playground, a place for Vancouver families. I’m always on the lookout for fun stuff to do, so if there’s something happening that you think I should know about, don't hesitate to contact me.

While driving home from the Pacific Highway border (aka Truck Crossing) I made a little detour to Redwood Park.  It's a quick 10 minute drive from the border - just head down 176 street and turn right at 20 Ave.  It's a beautiful park with large green fields, a decent playground, covered picnic areas, a tree fort (!) and toddler friendly forest trails.

But this isn't your typical forest...

You probably can't tell by the picture above but amongst those trees are the homes of around 10 fairy doors.  You don't have to walk far to find them.  Just make your way towards the tree fort and take the trail located a bit behind it (to the right) and foll0w the path for a few meters.  If you keep your eyes peeled to your right you will see them.

I'm very much that parent that uses the fairy card to get her to do things - toothbrushing fairy, broccoli fairy, putting on shoe fairy etc.  Sadie was bit weary of these fairies until she saw these doors.  Granted the fairies weren't home (they only come out at night...duh) but tiny minds were blown none the less.  Sadie loved it so much she made her dad take her back two days later.

Oh yeah, there were some slugs, wild mushrooms and woodpeckers too.
