Lucky you, Vancouver. You're smack-dab in the middle of roller derby season, and Minoru Arena is going to be pulsing with excitement at the Terminal City Rollergirls' double header on Saturday, August 11th. House team bragging rights and cross-border pride are both on the line, so this event is going to be a must-see for the 2012 season.

To get things warmed up for the evening, TCRG house teams The Bad Reputations and Public Frenemy will go toe-to-toe in the last house team face-off before league playoffs. The Bad Reps beat Frenemy by a mere nine points in a pre-season match-up back in March, and they are looking to finish the regular season undefeated and maintain their place as the top seed going into the semi-finals. Public Frenemy started the season with a few losses, but they recently defeated the Riot Girls and added former Terminal City All-Star Ludacrushis to the roster, so they are ready to prove that they’re up for another Bad Reps challenge.

Headlining the evening is TCRG’s charter team, the Terminal City All-Stars, who will be paid a visit by the Hustlers, a house team from Texas Rollergirls out of Austin. The Texas Rollergirls are one of the founding leagues who helped start the modern roller derby revival back in 2003, and they were recently named the #1 league in the WFTDA's South Central region.  The All-Stars are very honoured and excited to welcome them to Vancouver soil, and they can't wait to show their esteemed visitors what kind of tricks they’ve got up their sleeves. The All-Stars have won eleven of the fourteen bouts they’ve played this year,  and recently won the RDAC Western Canadian Championships.

This family-friendly event will be a blast for sports fans of any age, and will have food vendors, a Pabst Blue Ribbon beer garden, half-time entertainment and a rockin’ DJ.

For this event, the Terminal City Rollergirls are very proud to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure. The CIBC Run for the Cure is Canada's largest single day, volunteer-led fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research, education and awareness programs.  Sales of VIP tickets are available on arrival at the arena, and all proceeds will go to support this charity. There will also be special edition pink TCRG t-shirts for sale, and fans can sign up to skate with the rollergirls at the run on September 30.

Doors will open at 5pm at Minoru Arena in Richmond, BC, and things kick off at 5:45pm. Minoru Arena is conveniently located one block away from Brighouse Skytrain Station on the Canada Line. Tickets for adults are $15 in advance/ $20 at the door, and kids’ tickets are $10. Advance tickets are available online at terminalcitytickets.com or at the Sin Bin Sports Grill (295 W. 2nd Ave in Vancouver).

For an optimal roller derby viewing experience, we recommend wearing your favorite team colours (bright green & orange for Frenemy, teal and lightning bolts for Bad Reps, and red for All-Stars), painting your face, making a sparkly sign and/or sitting trackside on the floor. General shenanigans and mild tomfoolery are also encouraged.
