Read All Over celebrates the bookworm in all of us, showcasing readers in Vancouver and the books they love most.
Last weekend the Vancouver Book Club spent the day at the Summer Dreams Literary Arts Festival, talking to readers and writers about books, words, and all the fabulous literary happenings in the city. We had people answer some Read All Over questions, and here are some of the responses.

Daryl R. Stennett is a former consultant turned writer and is the author of Behind the Steam: The Inside Story of the Gastown Steam Clock.

Who is your favourite Vancouver or Lower Mainland author?

Eileen Kernaghan.

Do you have a favourite story set in Vancouver?

To Catch an Actress by Elizabeth Elwood.

Where is your favourite place to crack open a book in Vancouver?

At the main library.

What books have changed your life?

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey

Joan Flood also gave us her thoughts on books and reading.

The one book you always recommend is...

Sub Rosa by Amber Dawn

How do you like your books served up best - audio books, graphic novels, used paperbacks, library loaner, e-reader...?

Any way if it's a good book. For travel I love e-books.

What book makes you feel like a kid again?

Any good romp book.

What's next on your reading list?

Some gritty mystery as yet not determined.

Wendy Chanson describes herself as an "insatiable reader" who frequently lets the housework slide in favour of a good book, or five.

Who is your favourite Vancouver or Lower Mainland author?

At the moment, Alex Leslie. Always? William Gibson.

Where is your favourite place to crack open a book in Vancouver?

I take public transit a lot, so that's where I do a lot of reading. I love reading on the Seabus, because for some reason people are quieter there than they are on a bus or the Skytrain. Unfortunately, the trip is so short.

The one book you always recommend is...

The Stories of John Cheever.

How do you like your books served up best - audio books, graphic novels, used paperbacks, library loaner, e-reader...?

It depends on the situation. Audio books for car trips and electronic form for trips that involve travelling by plane. I use the library a lot because I couldn't afford all the books I read.

What book makes you feel like a kid again?

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.
